MAURIZIO SCIARRETTA
VIOLIN

Still only 35, the Bologna born virtuoso is now one of Europe's finest classical violinists – with a vintage maturity and gravitas in his interpretations of one far beyond his years. He is now most sought after not just as a soloist but leading well-known chamber ensembles as a special guest. He graduated from the Martini Conservatoire in his home town, also studying with Renato Zanettovich at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole in Tuscany, thereafter also working with distinguished teachers including Tretiakov, Franco Gulli and Pavel Vernikov.

Moving on to Cologne he studied with Zakhar Bron, doyen of the Oistrakhs' Russian school, and then under Salvatore Accardo. Success as a soloist came soon after, when in 2001 he performed the Sibelius Concerto in Rumania and Bulgaria, followed the next year by a performance of the Bach Double Violin Concerto with Eugene Sarbu and the Orchestra da Camera de Bologna which heralded him as "one of the most promising violinists of the new generation".

In 2002 he also was chosen to open the first "Sommets Musicales" in Gstaad alongside Anne-Sophie Mutter, Lynn Harrel l, Grigorij Sokolov, Cecilia Bartoli and Vadim Repin. Within a full schedule, he is now a prized artist with ArrivaDiva, with whom he will go within the next two years to London, to Carnegie Hall and to make his debut in Vienna.
